I’m a huge fan of homemade juice because of the many benefits it provides, and I’m going to show you how to make green juice without a juicer.
Struggling to make juice at home is common conundrum because, well, not everyone has the luxury of having a juicer. I’ve got the secret to how to make juice without a juicer and all it requires is a blender and nut milk bag!
Which is better smoothie or juice?
I get asked this question a lot and the answer isn’t quite so black and white. I believe there is a time and place for both smoothies and juices depending on what your nutritional needs are.
Smoothies are my “secret sauce” to living healthfully because you can pack so many nutrients in one glass. Not only are you loading up on micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) which are what boosts the nutrient-density of foods, but you also get the benefits of macro nutrients. Protein, healthy fats and fiber satisfies hunger, keeps blood sugar levels stable to prevent energy crash and burn and provide your body with caloric fuel.
On the other hand, juices are an amazing way to shock your body with vitamins and minerals from leafy greens, vegetables and fruits. These nutrients help fight inflammation, boost energy and mental clarity, and promote optimal health for the long haul.
Ingredients to Include in Homemade Juice
When looking at which juice to consume, I like to stick with those that are filled with leafy greens, herbs and vegetables and keep fruits at a minimum. Usually I’ll grab the one that has one fruit listed as the third or fourth ingredient, meaning the sugar from the fruit doesn’t make up the bulk of the juice. Green apples are a fantastic juicing fruit because they are lower in sugar when compared to say, pineapple.

How to Make Juice Without a Juicer
Having worked in a juice bar that came with perks of unlimited access to cold-pressed juice, my body craves it often. I have experienced the shift in my health when regularly consuming juices first hand, and it always leaves me craving more. My skin is more clear and vibrant, my eyes are whiter, my mental clarity is crystal clear and I feel more vibrant.
But without the luxuries of free access to juice, stocking up on cold-pressed juice regularly from your local juice bar can be hard on the budget. And if you can’t justify the cost of a juicer or want to deal with the mess, what do you do?
Simple! All you need is a blender and nut milk bag. I recommend investing in a high-quality blender so that you can not only make juices, but smoothies, nut-based cheeses and so much more. A nut milk bag is great to have on hand for when you want to make some delicious almond milk, too.
The one downside of making your own juices at home is that you do have to add water to the mix to get everything blended up. On the upside, more water means a boost in hydration, so in my mind it’s a win win!
The base I enjoy when making homemade juice is 1 cucumber + a few handfuls of leafy greens + citrus + 1 cup water.
Here’s how to make juice without a juicer:
- Get your juice ingredients prepped. I would recommend chopping your vegetables into 2” pieces to blend more easily.
- Add the ingredients to a blender with 1 cup water and blend until smooth. It will result in a soup-like consistency.
- Place the nut milk bag in a mixing bowl and pour the juice blend into the nut milk bag.
- Squeeze the bag to until the pulp from the juice is dry and the liquid is squeezed out into the bowl.
- Pour into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator to chill and until you’re ready to enjoy! Juices will stay fresh for a few days.
Juice Prep Tip: When storing for later use, fill the container almost full and make sure the lid is airtight. Excess air oxidizes the juice which causes the nutrients to become depleted with time.
