This nacho cheese hummus recipe is not your average hummus recipe. This 5-minute hummus recipe has all of the flavors of the beloved bag of Doritos chips, but yet healthy enough so that you don’t have to feel guilty about reaching for scoopfuls! It’s slightly smoky, creamy and of course, cheesy, satisfying every bit of the nacho cheese lover inside of you.
Did you know that nacho cheese isn’t actually a kind of cheese? There’s no standard definition of “nacho” cheese, meaning it can really be whatever we believe it is.
I don’t know about you, but when I think of nacho cheese, there’s only two foods that come to mind: Doritos and the jar of queso you find strategically placed in the chip aisle at the grocery store.

I can never really bring myself to pop open a jar of fake queso cheese, but a bag of Doritos? Just the thought of licking my fingers of all of the nacho cheesy goodness brings me back to school lunches, pool parties and sleepovers as a kid.
Nacho Cheese Hummus in only 5 minutes!
In this recipe for nacho cheese hummus, we’re combining the familiar flavors of Doritos with the nutritional goodness of one of my favorite healthy snacks – hummus!
The best part is, it only takes five minutes and two simple steps. Add all of your ingredients to a food processor, blend until creamy and you’re good to go.

For this nacho cheese hummus, you’ll need:
- Nutritional yeast
- Garbanzo beans
- Garlic clove
- Lemon
- Onion powder
- Smoked paprika
- Chili powder
- Olive oil
- Salt
Nutritional yeast is what gives this hummus its “cheesy” flavor, but it also delivers a huge nutrient boost. Did you know that in one serving (which is 1 Tablespoon), you’re getting two grams of protein and over 100 percent of your daily B vitamins?
Instead of chips, opt for a simple healthy swap of veggie sticks to serve with this nacho cheese hummus. Some of my favorites include: snap peas (crunchy/sweet), radishes (spicy) and cucumber slices (super hydrating).

I’d love to try this but we’re oil free. Can you recommend a substitute or can I just eliminate it?
You can eliminate and add water to thin it out a bit for extra creaminess. Enjoy!!
